ABOUT HER
Dr. Caroline Korkis, OD, is an experienced Optometrist, double board-certified in Canada and the United Kingdom. She currently practices in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), providing exceptional care at two local practices. Dr. Korkis is dedicated to delivering optimal patient care, with a particular focus on dry eye disease management. She is a strong advocate for patient education and is committed to advancing her expertise through ongoing professional development, ensuring that her patients receive the most current and effective treatment options. In her free time, Dr. Korkis enjoys traveling, skiing, and playing tennis.
EXPERTISE
Dr. Caroline Korkis has a clinical interest in dry eye management and optimizing overall eye health, with additional focus on diabetes, diabetic retinopathy management, and emergency eye care. She is skilled in a variety of both common and advanced dry eye treatments, including Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, microblepharoexfoliation (MBE), and punctual plug insertion, among others.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Korkis lectures on Dry Eye Disease, collaborating with pharmaceutical industry partners to share her expertise. She is dedicated to educating both patients and colleagues on the significance of ocular health, with a particular focus on makeup best practices, clean beauty trends, eyelid hygiene, and strategies for improving the health of the ocular surface. Dr. Korkis’s commitment to community outreach is evident in her philanthropic efforts, where she has facilitated vision screening programs for underserved schools in Toronto.
EXPERIENCE
Dr. Caroline Korkis earned her Optometry degree in Cambridge, UK, and further expanded her clinical experience through a placement in Melbourne, Australia. She then completed her training in London, where she gained expertise in general practice and comprehensive ophthalmology through various rotations. Following her training, Dr. Korkis practiced as an associate and locum Optometrist in London for several years before relocating to her home in Canada in 2018, to obtain her Optometry license at the University of Waterloo.
Dr. Korkis has had the privilege of working with several esteemed Doctors during her clinical rotations in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Toronto, Ontario. In Halifax, she trained under a leading ocular oncologist and cataract specialist, Dr. Hesham Lakosha where she assisted with LASIK pre- and post-operative care, cataract surgeries, and corneal cross-linking procedures. In Toronto, she worked alongside Doctors Samuel and Sharon Markowitz at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB), contributing to low vision rehabilitation services.
