DR. CAROLINE KORKIS

Dr. Caroline Korkis, a gifted eye doctor, is known for her personalized approach, extensive knowledge and use of groundbreaking technology.

Born and raised in Toronto, and of middle eastern descent, Dr. Korkis has experienced quite the journey that has brought her to where she is today. A successful Double Board Certified Optometrist now serving the greater Toronto area.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree at McMaster University and her Optometry Degree in Cambridge UK, Dr. Korkis participated in a clinical placement in Melbourne, Australia before completing her training in London involving primary care and rotations in comprehensive Ophthalmology.

While in London, Dr. Korkis practiced as an associate and locum Optometrist for several years, being exposed to a variety of patient cases ranging from contact lenses, laser refractive surgery care, ocular disease and dry eye management.

She returned to Canada in 2018 and earned her Canadian Optometry license in 2019 from the University of Waterloo. Dr. Korkis worked with several esteemed colleagues during her two clinical rotations in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Toronto, Ontario.  Her rotation in Halifax was with a leading ocular oncologist and cataract specialist Dr. Hesham Lakosha, where she assisted in LASIK pre and post-operative care, cataract surgery and corneal cross linking.

Dr. Korkis also trained in downtown Toronto with Doctors Samuel and Sharon Markowitz, assisting at the Canadian National Institute of the Blind (CNIB) with low vision rehabilitation.

Dr. Korkis explains “I feel that my life experiences have helped me understand my patients on a deeper level.” She continues “To have had the opportunity to live in the UK, travel abroad and experience growing up in a middle eastern family while being raised in Canada, has given me a unique perspective. Especially when it comes to appreciating my patients’ various needs, cultures and backgrounds.” Her closest friends describe her as an adventurist, optimist, expert conversationalist, learner, lover and healer. With Dr. Korkis’s charming character and caring personality, it’s hard not to find yourself feeling as if you’ve made a new best friend.

What brings Dr. Korkis her greatest fulfillment is her drive to give back. As a philanthropist, she has made it her mission to support the underprivileged community.  Dedicating her free time to in school vision programs and supporting charities overseas she claims, has immensely influenced her character. She is particularly passionate about supporting children with congenital heart disease. For Dr. Korkis, this is a cause that is of supreme importance.

When she’s not madly diving into new techniques to help her patients or giving back to her community, Dr. Korkis loves to be outdoors – hiking, playing tennis and snowboarding. A woman with a strong drive and intense craving for adventure,  she explains “Life is too short to just exist…As Oscar Wilde said ‘Living is the rarest thing of all.’”
